I woke up in the morning sensing divine blessings, listening to soothing music. The rays of sun slowly began shining from the midst of blue sky. Why am I being so poetic? Because, after five days of having nothing except lemon juice with honey, today, we are going to break our fast with some musambi juice!
With a newly found zeal and complete happiness, we sat in silent meditation in the green garden, and enjoyed being at one with nature, watching the sun rise slowly. A group of us began preparing the musambis, peeling them and cutting them into quarters, to make juice out of. We had total fun, I must tell you!
8 o clock was the historical moment we will always remember: our first glass of musambi juice! We drank our glasses of juice, enjoying every bit of its juiciness.
After a long relaxation and recreation, the time for raw food was here. It was really tough to control hunger – all our stomach acids were strongly being pumped out. After waiting in a long queue, I received the colourful plate of food filled with watermelon cubes, and a tall glass of buttermilk. I grabbed the plate and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We felt like we were eating after many years. It was a very revealing experience, to eat with true hunger.
In the evening, we went back to our childhood days with a game of hide and seek. It was really fun! A lot of happy smiles all around, after a long time. The game really got us hungry again, and we were more than ready to eat when dinner arrived – pineapple with vegetable soup. Bliss.
Well, I’d like to tell you this: fasting is really an opportunity for body to heal itself and to eliminate all kinds of toxins and residual matter that have been accumulating in the body for ages. It is rightly said that fasting is the cornerstone of naturopathy. It is an easy and effective treatment.
After having experienced this therapy, I have decided to make fasting my first line of treatment and show my patients how, even without any external aid, the body can heal from its chronic and acute ailments.
Life is been gifted to live it with utmost happiness, youthfulness and complete heath. Let us not make it sluggish with sedentary eating and living. Let us unlock the secret of good health, through the key of Upavasam.
It is said that fasting leads to Antar Shaucha and Atma Shuddhi, which is the ultimate goal of one’s life and an opportunity to communicate with one’s own inner self.
